Dokey Review 2023: Too Expensive or Too Good?
Published on March 15, 2023

Today I present Dokey.io, a writing assistant for SEO. At a time when AI is entering the daily workflow of content creators, what is a solution worth that has chosen NOT to bet on GPT-3?
I had exchanged with one of their sales reps in early 2022, and at that time, the tool didn't convince me enough to switch from Frase + YTG. The platform has since evolved significantly and it's time to put it to the test.
What is Dokey?
Dokey.io is a French content research, optimization, planning, and tracking solution. A complete toolbox for writers who want to create or optimize content for SEO. Behind Dokey is Octopulse, an SEO-oriented digital marketing agency.

The tool's promise is to use proprietary NLP algorithms to help content teams find topic ideas and optimize writing based on existing Google results. The tool has a beautiful UI, which makes it attractive.
Features

Content Ideas
Dokey offers a well-designed content idea generator. You can choose between keywords and questions. The "intent" column is very useful: it shows whether intent is commercial, navigational, informational, or transactional. Ideal for building a content strategy quickly.

- Add it to the planning board for a writer to pick up.
- Analyze the search to launch a Google SERP comparison.

SERP Analysis
The content "Design" section goes through analysis of the Google results page. This page is divided into 4 parts:

The Results Page
- Related searches (clicking on them gives you a SERP preview)
- Google results (URL, Title, MetaDesc, Favicon)
- Domain authority score by Semrush
- Content score: a proprietary algorithm showing the optimization score

Competitor Headings
Ideal for analyzing competitors' strategy in depth, helping quickly assess which sites have covered the topic in detail.

Relevant Questions
This section references PAA (People Also Ask) questions and allows including them in your content with a single click.

Writing
The writing interface looks similar to competitors -- a text editor with the ability to import content from a URL.

You can quickly check keyword occurrence counts and see the real-time optimization score.

Other Features
- Ability to connect multiple Search Consoles (ideal for agencies)
- Writing task assignment to third parties
- Performance monitoring via Search Console

Pricing
A starter plan at 59 euros for only 10 analyses, up to 299 euros for 100 monthly analyses. It is fairly expensive.

Who is Dokey For?
- A company for which content is truly strategic and that has its own writers.
- A small SEO/Marketing agency with writers and a few clients.
- A freelance writer who wants a beautiful interface.
The Incredible AppSumo Deal
$249 (233 euros) for a lifetime subscription on the largest plan (100 analyses per month). You pay once, and your account recharges every month.

My Opinion and Conclusion

Pros
- Magnificent UI
- Well-thought-out UX
- Proprietary algorithm
Cons
- No text generation
- Fairly expensive with low limits

Dokey is a beautifully developed tool from a UX, UI, and features standpoint -- but it doesn't differentiate itself enough from other tools on the market. The price (excluding AppSumo) seems quite high.
